BLACKWATER NIGHT DIVING
I have been doing Blackwater night diving in Palau for nearly six years. I had heard about this style of night diving from friends that had dived in Hawaii where it first originated well over ten years ago now. In the beginning I was only trying open ocean blackwater diving but after several long spells of bad weather we had to start adapting to areas that had shelter from the wind. Back in 2013 Unique Dive Expeditions were one of the pioneer dive shops to start experimenting with bonfire diving or placing lights over a shallow reef or drop off to attract plankton.
